The Worst Vice?

It's one of my worst anyway (I have six others):
In the world sloth calls itself tolerance; but in hell it is called despair. It is the accomplice of every other sin and their worst punishment. It is the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, loves nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing and remains alive only because there is nothing it would die for. We have known it far to well for many years. The only thing perhaps that we have not known about it is that is a mortal sin.–Dorothy Sayers

It's interesting to consider what a terrible thing sloth is. I do remember that Thomas Aquinas defined sloth as "sadness that the good is hard to achieve". That seems more empathetic, in a way, than Dorothy Sayers explantion. But the Angelic Doctor didn't live to see our day, did he?

I'd put more thought into this but there's a hockey game coming up (Edmonton/Anaheim). Or I could blame the Blackhook porter. Oh good, that's gluttony. This isn't a good sign, is it?

Thanks to Southern Appeal for the quote.
